The iPhone 18 series is expected to launch in September 2026, and based on the leaks and rumors circulating so far, it’s shaping up to be one of Apple’s most significant releases in years. Here’s everything we know about the iPhone 18 — from the A19 chip to the redesigned camera system.

A19 Chip: Built on 2nm Process

Apple’s next-generation A19 chip is expected to be built on TSMC’s 2nm process node, promising a 30% improvement in power efficiency over the A18. According to supply chain reports, the A19 will feature a 6-core CPU with 4 efficiency cores and 2 performance cores, alongside a 5-core GPU. Early benchmarks suggest significant gains in both raw performance and thermal management. The Neural Engine is also expected to get an upgrade to 40 cores, enabling faster on-device AI processing.

Design: Refined, Not Revolutionized

The iPhone 18 Pro is rumored to retain the titanium frame introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro but with refined antenna bands and slightly reduced weight. The most notable design change is expected to be an under-display Face ID system, removing the Dynamic Island entirely on Pro models. Leaked schematics suggest a 6.3-inch display for the Pro and a 6.9-inch display for the Pro Max. Standard models will reportedly keep the Dynamic Island but gain a 120Hz ProMotion display — a long-overdue upgrade.

Camera System: Major Upgrades

The iPhone 18 Pro is rumored to feature a 48MP quad-pixel main sensor, a 48MP ultrawide (up from 12MP), and a 12MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom. Reports suggest the LiDAR scanner will be upgraded with faster scanning for AR applications and improved portrait mode depth mapping. Apple’s Photonic Engine is expected to receive its fourth-generation update, with better low-light performance and reduced noise in challenging conditions. 8K video recording at 30fps with cinematic stabilization is expected to make its debut.

iOS 27 Integration

The iPhone 18 will ship with iOS 27, which reportedly includes deeper AI integration across the system. Apple Intelligence features are expected to expand significantly, including on-device large language model capabilities for writing assistance, image generation, and smart summarization. Siri is expected to receive its biggest update yet, with integration into third-party apps and improved contextual awareness.

Battery and Charging

Apple is reportedly working on larger battery cells for the iPhone 18 series, with the Pro Max potentially reaching 5,000mAh for the first time. Charging speeds are expected to increase to 40W wired and 25W MagSafe — still behind Android competitors but a meaningful improvement. The 2nm A19 chip’s efficiency gains should also contribute to longer battery life.

Connectivity: Wi-Fi 8 and Satellite 2.0

The iPhone 18 is expected to support Wi-Fi 8 (802.11bn) for faster wireless speeds and lower latency. Satellite connectivity is also expected to get an upgrade with two-way messaging and basic data capabilities, building on the emergency SOS features introduced with the iPhone 14. Bluetooth 6.0 and Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon X85 5G modem are also expected.

Pricing and Release Timeline

Based on Apple’s historical patterns, the iPhone 18 series will likely be announced in the second week of September 2026, with pre-orders starting the following Friday and availability a week after that. Pricing is expected to remain similar to the iPhone 17 series: $799 for the base model, $999 for the Pro, and $1,199 for the Pro Max. Some reports suggest a potential price increase due to the 2nm chip costs.

Note: The iPhone 18 series had not been officially announced at the time of writing. All information is based on leaks, rumors, and analyst reports. Final specifications, features, and pricing may differ.
